Welcome to Day #2 the first ever "Blast from the Past" Blog week!!
In the world of publishing, there's a mysterious place books often go a short time after they've been released into the world that we authors refer to as the ever-growing "back-list"!
Really amazing books can sometimes be forgotten and replaced by newer releases and ultimately live out there sad little lives, feeling lonely and abandoned!!
*please bow your heads for a moment of silence as we pay tribute to those lost pages of inspiring, but forgotten plots, characters and happy endings*
OKAY.... NOW SHAKE IT OFF!!!
This week we're dragging some of those forgotten books out of the darkness and giving them a moment in the sun!!
I hope you'll return each day for a special treat from some wonderful authors who hope you'll enjoy the books they've chosen to spotlight.
Some books might be familiar, but some might be never before morsels you missed the first time around!! You never know what you'll find during this blast from the past book week!!
NEXT UP... Kastil Eavenshade and not one but TWO of her her delicious M/M romances, Talbot's Ploy and Talbot's Seduction!
Some time ago, Evernight Publishing put out a call for an anthology about friends who become lovers. I came up with an idea and let my fingers fly. However, the story wasn't accepted for the anthology. They felt it rushed and that it could be expanded. As bummed as I was, I had to agree with their assessment.
So Talbot's Ploy was expanded. I dove into 18th century times with gusto. I'm a real fact whore and I wanted my characters to live as they would in those times. The persecution of gay man—called sodomites back then—was real and carried the penalty of death. Some who had great influence got saved from the guillotine with banishment but most often than not, they died horribly. I opened Talbot's Ploy with a scene of him with his current lover. The relationship was very strained and, truth be told, Talbot Sauvageot wanted another in his bed. Thus became the struggle between showing his feelings and potentially losing the only friend he has in the world or finding the one true love he sought.
After I wrote that one, I had some of the reviews stating they wanted to know certain background references cited in the book. Thus Talbot's Seduction was born. I'm usually one that doesn't plan on sequels yet here I was writing a prequel. Really I wanted to have something spawned right around the beginning of the French Revolution. Before the storming of the Bastille, criminals were hung by the neck. Thought cruel, the fine blade of the guillotine was deployed after. In his wakening in what he truly desired, Talbot sees many of his lovers fall. Only his status saves him numerous times.
This character, and his eventual lover, were two of my favorite ones to write. I've had other ideas pop in my head but none are quite strong enough for the domineering nature of Talbot. Perhaps one day.
Talbot Sauvageot has kept his wicked lifestyle underground for several years, going from one lover to the next. Decedent rake to females by day, passionate lover for his latest male companion at night. When he is forced to flee Paris or face the guillotine, Talbot realizes none of the men he has bedded over the past years burns at his soul like his dear friend Maxime LaRue. Forced into seclusion in the forest of Bois de Lunor, he receives an invitation from Maxime for their yearly gathering at his estate in Varanguebec. One that Talbot has avoided the past few years. Refusing to submit to a life without love, Talbot schemes to discover if his childhood friend shares the same taste in pleasure as he. Will Maxime submit to Talbot’s ploy or cast his friend in the shadow of death?
Talbot Sauvageot is a young Lord living in Paris, France in search of anything but the duties of his station. He spends his time drinking and whoring, his memory of the last evening always a blur. When he is tricked by his betrothed’s father, Talbot realizes his heart beats not for the velvety folds of a woman but the hardened shaft of a man. Now he must find a balance in a world that condemns a man to death should he dabble in sodomy. His desires are unleashed tenfold when his Friend Tyeis shares his same interests in a bedmate.

Kastil Eavenshade is multi-published author pandering her romantic shenanigans. When not catering to the whims of three rescued kitties, she's dreaming up her next heart-beating tale. No period in history—past, present, or future—is safe from the clutches of her muse. Her passions beyond writing are drawing, cooking, and watching Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. She credits her parents for her free spirit as they've always supported her in every aspect of her life. Without them, she wouldn't be here. :D
